Hi! I’m Miss. Brooks :)
I have always had a passion for music
and from that grew my love for teaching.
When I was 17, I had the amazing opportunity of performing in Germany at the International Performing Arts Institute. I found my incredible professor and vocal instructor, Dr. Lori Guy, at my time in the program. Dr. Guy plays such a pivotal role in the way that I sing and teach today. The technique that she taught me is what I use with my students today. She taught me how to see the voice from an emotional and scientific perspective. Bringing these two fundamental aspects to the voice together has helped me form, The Brooks Method.
While in University, I was the understudy for Meg Giry in The Phantom of the Opera, Cinderella in Sondheim’s Into the Woods, and sang professionally in Mozart’s opera, The Impresario as Madam Warbelwell. I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music, which includes being proficient in piano.
Approaching vocal technique through a scientific lense is an empowering way to sing. I want all my students to understand their personal vocal anatomy before singing. I encourage my students to explore their voices so that they can become empowered by using it. While there are many technicalities to the voice, it is so important for my students to be able to feel their emotions when and as they sing.
